Hello!
Since our move to Brazil in 2000, my ministry has changed drastically. Of course, since God has richly blessed me with four children, my ministry is probably very similar to most mothers in the U.S. Making disciples of my children in the Lord is the first priority of my days. Then comes the cooking, cleaning, laundry, homework, education, discipline, correspondence, etc. Of course, everyday I have to pray and commit that day to this priority order.
Our newest little blessing, Levi, was such a surprise yet life wouldn't be the same without him. I feel "old" to have such a little one again, but am loving every minute.
In our church planting ministry, I have been able to
be involved in different areas as time allows as well. This is a great blessing to me since I have always had the
need to "be a part". Tim,
Bill, and Dave do an excellent job at including their wives in the meetings
and bigger decision things. It's so
encouraging to know that our input and wisdom does make a difference.
One of the greatest privileges has been leading several young ladies to Christ and now doing a personal discipleship with them. The few hours a week that I spend with these ladies in the Word are precious. Sometimes I think I get more out of them then they do. Seeing their fire, their desire to learn, their commitment and struggles, keeps me focused and pressing on. Tim and I have also "found our nitch" with pre-marital and marital counseling. It has been such a challenge and yet a blessing to watch some very troubled couples gain victory and other brand new marriages set their foundation on the right things!
I work with the other two ladies on a ladies' ministry and am assisting Tim with a new small group Bible study he's starting with young engaged and newlywed couples. We're also involved in several pre marital counseling sessions and continuing development and growth after they do get married. Living life with these young believers is the key, and I love it but have to be very careful with over committing.
I have recently started a mentorship weekly study with a young lady. It's been encouraging to already see her grow and recognize God's gentle and not so gentle sometimes leading in her life.
As you can see, sometimes it becomes very difficult and challenging to keep the proper balance between home/ministry/mommy/wife/pastor's wife, etc. My desire is to seek God in all decisions and time commitments so that HIS PRIORITIES WILL BE MY PRIORITIES.
God is good, all the time!
